Again an Old debate spoken by me at NSIT in 2005: Sustained Developement is an unrealized dream: Against the motion
Look backward with gratitude, upwards with confidence and forward with hope..
From the wheel in the 6th century to the automobile in the 18th, man has definitely come a long way.Earlier the means of transport was a bullock cart, there was a slow metamorphosis to a bicycle, then the mobikes came and finally a car and aeroplane.
But its not that develpoment stopped here, new models implemented with newer technologies always kept coming in the market.
From pigeons to snail mails to email and fax, communication was never this easy. And its not that this advancement stops here, earlier we used to have wireless or mobiles now we have handhelds and palm tops.Now this palm top provides us with every possible service in our palm.
This developement in technology has not been an unrealised dream, its there in front of our eyes.Though there have been inventions which have caused a sustainable developement.

Not a debate but a path I thought for myself 4 years back..
I used to write my heart felt before blogging was available...This is something very relevant still today, its about how I traverse to the final path in my life...
i want justice in all fields of life, I feel choked everytime I see injustioce in front of my eyes.I am a coward most of these times believing that Icannot do anything about it. then I get emotional, on the wrong track and try to take revenge from those causing injustice by wrong means.
Result - Mostly (95%) my teachers would dislike me.Aome kind of fear it because they know I have been correct(here my purpose is acheived) others just beleive I am this disobedient girl. but its my fault throughout by adhering to wrong means.
Now for anyone who has felt the same way...before voicing your opinion you need to come to this platform where people will listen to you. If you want to check your incorrect teacher, you should be the topper of your class, but you shoulod always be correct. You should believe yourself thouroughly.
I have always thought about my ultimate dream or goal in life. when I was small I dreamt of becoming the next Cleopatra, I was deeply impressed by her because she ruled several kings by her mystical attraction. Alright that was funny but yes at one point of time I really thought about this dream and believed it with full conviction.
But I never thought how I would do it.Its not just important to to set goals but also chock out a path.
Then I thought in the true romantic sense my ultimate dream would be to get the love of this most wonderful guy on earth.One imaginary character- A true Hero in all respects.Always right about everything. But that is nolonger the ultimate dream.
Now most of us , are pursuing some specific studies, we aspire for a good college for further studies, then for some excellent job or head into the family busines. thats what are parents ever wanted so thats what we want. earn money, make life comfortable for ourselves and people around. Even I believe in this,its the most essential thing to do.
But what about life after that...Imagine a day when I get this love of my life, I finish my PG from this best college , get into the dream company and earn lots but is that all I was sent here for??I dont think so...
then I thought I'll make a haven for street dogs, so that they do not suffer because I have seen many of them die and I was really touched by it.
Then I've seen old people really being ill treated, even if not being ill treated, I've seen them feel lonely not because there children dont love them but because they dont have enough time. So I thought there will be this oldage home where everything will be provided. I have always thought that I would get that rich.
I still beleive that I will fulfill these two dreams but yet again thats not all.
Ok, now tell me how does it feel when you know that this guy who has murdered several people and has looted a large amount of your money is your minister. He still continues that and one just has to be helpless about it. I'll tell you again helpness is cowardness. because no matter what the situation might be, you can always help it.
One cause of such ministers ruling us is the illiteracy prevalent, others are force and fear.
I have hated politics, never dreamt of being a part of this sleazy world because my dreams have always been so clean and beautiful. Now when I thought a lot the only way to clean the system is to be a part of it.
Now if I say that the goal is set, it will not be enough I have to chock out a way. we are too young to start some political party.What we can do is reach out as many young people as possible.They just have to believe in JUSTICE in all spheres. The best way for doing this is the net.
In whichever city you are, you and your group of freinds can start some sort of independent NGO and start helping people in any respect you feel like. you can mnail your achievements and group members on this portal and also learn about other members and there achievements.
After 15-20 years, when the achievements of our group are substantial enough , it can be registered as a political party.And like minde4d people hating injustice, crime and loving the nation alike can stand for elections from the areas they have worked for. And maybe if all this materialises we see a beautiful world and I fullfill the purpose of my life.

Is Internet is a force for democracy...For the motion

I saw the ripples go up and down and ships sailing from town to town...
With coconut palms on the shimmery beach...

The merry scene in the couplet reffered to India, where WE the people is Sovereign.Where the ruler is By the people and for the people beautifully coined in the word 'Democracy'.
The stupendous heights of this beautiful world cannot be reached unless Democratization strengthens its roots deeply into the soil.
Internet is the mo0st powerful tool for Democratization.It is powerful because it encourages a mass participatory kind of democracy,it is a key facilitator, it educates and this awareness lays the foundation of democracy.
The principles of democracy are based on creating a WIN-WIN situation for everyone involoved.This was created when a large group of people from diverse cultures,varied backgrounds come together to discuss,inform and agree after a consensus.
Considering India in particular in its pre independence era, we saw children scrawling graffiti on walls or publishing pamphlets in underground print shops, now with technology virtually knocking at each and every door step these documents are available to a wider audience in a easier, faster and cheaper manner.
Internet brings with itself freedom of thought and expression.It has information from Human rights organisations such as HRW whose views would otherwise have not reached such a wider audience.It raises questions on the governance of certain authoritative regimes, encourages citizens to take action. It includes proliferation of advertising for western goods not available in left repressive regimes.It promotes political conciousness which is sometimes erased from libraries, papers and broadcast media.
All this has led to several campaigns--> Mistreatment of detainees in Abu gharib prison for example...This is the area where advent o fInternat is feared the most as it can surely topple repressive regimes,if implemented effectively.
It was 50 years back when the United Nations General assembly adopted Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with hopes in heart and bundles of determination of making earth a place which ensured free expression for everyone.
But its most powerful tool the INTERNET is under attack from laws, reasons and politics. Be it te case in china where a Chinese as access to 13% less sites than his counterpart in UK or US or of Turkey where a teenager received a jail sentence for making comments critical of police in an online forum.
My worthy opponents who are talking about Internet just reaching to people of a specific region are actually supporting my stand by believing that if it reaches most of the household it could democratization.
Barry S Steinhardt, one of the founders of GLOBAL INTERNET LIBERTY CAMPAIGN reflects that objectionavle ideas are best stymied by an INTELLIGENT Response rather than REPRESSION...
People realize its not just a tool for techno geeks anymore. If this is realized by the opressive rulers, by those who believe in repression. by YOU and ME...The meery scene across distant plains that mystique land across seven seas would come here for us to flourish.
